What is SECURMART ESG

SECURMART ESG is a thermally toughened float or
patterned glass.
The initial tension is attained by means of
a heat treatment of the glass.

Float glass or patterned glass is suitable for cutting. Thus, for edge processing and any
necessary hole boring and/or cut-out glass, the glass is placed horizontally in an electrically
controlled oven that is evenly heated to over 600° and then cooled quickly with cold air.

Due to the specific heat conductivity of the glass, the outer zone of the panel hardens
considerably faster than the inside of the panel. A tensile stress is created due to the delayed
hardening of the panel core.
This means that the outer zones are under compressive stress
that the core actually attains through cooling under tensile stress.

Both tensions must be in balance with the other because only then a stable state of tension
is achieved so that the properties of the toughened safety glass are guaranteed.

Due to this tension relationship, toughened safety glass cannot be processed after the fact.
When the tension balance is destroyed, breakage of the panel occurs. Small, mostly blunt
glass fragments occur if panel shatters, greatly reducing the danger of possible serious injury.
