Glas Marte achieves high standards of functionality and design. Processors and consumers can be confident about installation and appearance from the outset. The latter is influenced by the architectural zeitgeist and as such is naturally subject to constant change and personal taste. However, aesthetics can also be defined by certain universally valid characteristics: For decades, the German Design Council has been concerned with design, brand and innovation and annually honours award winners with the German Design Award. For the fifth time, Glas Marte is amongst those honoured this year.

Special Mention

The reflective chrome-plated glass surface GM CHROME earned a SPECIAL MENTION for noteworthy design in the category «Excellent Product Design – Building and Elements»: In a multi-lamination process, individual motifs applied to the glass surface remain permanently stable. The mirror finishes are either barely perceptible or ultra-striking with deep contrasts. The design possibilities are therefore as versatile as the wishes of the customer. Equally variable are glass type and thickness. Three colour choices are also available: chrome, gold or copper. Despite the highly reflective coating, which is comparable to a mirror, the glass panes are extremely robust. Glas Marte toughens the glass in its factory, which is also beneficial for its use as LSG and in insulating glass laminates. Chrome-plated or partially chrome-plated glazing can be used indoors or outdoors and functions as reliable and aesthetically-pleasing protection against sun-glare, heat and birds.

German Design Award

The GERMAN DESIGN AWARD is the top prize awarded by the German Design Council. Internationally and across industries it is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the design world. Since 2012 the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD has identified important design trends, presented them to the wider public and awarded prizes for them. Companies whose products and communication design services are demonstrably convincing in terms of their design quality are invited to participate. There have been 4,500 national and international submissions in each of the last few years.
