UNIGLAS® SUN was used as the base glass for the large-scale glazing, including the façade, entrance area and panoramic windows.
UNIGLAS® SUN was used as the base glass. This high-performance insulating glass offers effective sun protection and ensures bright, friendly interiors thanks to its high light transmission. To provide additional bird protection, the surface was finished with the highly reflective GM LIGHT CHROME coating. The result: clean lines, low energy consumption and proven bird protection.
DESIGN & RESPONSIBILITY
The durable, high-contrast patterns of GM LIGHT CHROME are clearly visible to birds and help to reliably prevent collisions – without restricting the design options for the architecture. At the same time, the combination with UNIGLAS® SUN contributes to a pleasant indoor climate and improves the overall energy balance of the building.
The effectiveness of GM LIGHT CHROME has also been confirmed by the Swiss Ornithological Institute in Sempach. In its brochure «Bird-friendly building with glass», it cites the product as a positive example and refers to a comparable implementation:
‘An exemplary implementation can also be found at the Frauenfeld military training area: the glass front of the catering centre is fitted with a pattern that prevents bird collisions.’
