The planners of the residential and commercial building at Handelskai Vienna chose GM TOPROLL® 10/14 for a good reason: a top-hung sliding system with a roller track placed at the top. It has exceptionally good running properties, especially with high and heavy sliding elements or those that are subject to extreme loads, such as in a high-rise building.

RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL HIGH-RISE BUILDING

The multi-unit building is located directly on Handelskai, opposite the Danube Island. It consists of 404 residential units as well as additional commercial and office spaces. The complex is divided into five connected building structures: An extended building structure with ten storeys above ground stretches along the Handelskai. Four further building structures, each with nine storeys, are positioned at right angles to it. This elongated building structure creates quiet rear courtyards. They are accessible via a stand-like staircase in the inner courtyard and are used as playgrounds.

BALCONIES WITH SLIDING SYSTEM

The complex offers its residents all the comfort they need: a photovoltaic system on the roof generates electricity for own use. A common outdoor area with a view over the Danube encourages communication between neighbours. The flat's storage room provides more living space, while balconies, loggias, patios or even a private roof garden offer open space, depending on the type of flat. A front facade with manually adjustable toughened safety glass (TSG) serves as sound insulation. The sliding systems were installed by MBM Metallbau Mörtl. While GM TOPROLL® 10/14 was used on the lower floors, they opted for an even greater glass thickness on the top floor. Both systems are frameless and therefore blend elegantly into the facade. They are also extremely robust and durable thanks to their practical properties.
