GM RAILING® impresses with its versatile range of applications. Based on six basic systems, virtually any requirement can be met through one of the numerous variations we have to offer. Whether straight or curved, with or without a design, or with an elegant glass edge protection – our GM RAILING® glass balustrades can be adapted to individual preferences. This flexibility enables a wide variety of design possibilities and ensures that consumers are never limited in their creative process.

Unique modular principle

The outstanding unique feature of GM RAILING® glass balustrades is the innovative modular principle. The balustrades consist of prefabricated glass modules in which the glass and profile are firmly joined at the factory and optimally stored, along with a perfectly coordinated substructure.

By delivering the glass module as a complete unit, installation can be optimally integrated into the construction schedule. The actual glass installation usually takes place during the final construction phase, ensuring that the glass and all visible surfaces are optimally protected from dirt and damage during the building process.

Two-step process

 Thanks to the prefabricated glass modules and the substructure profile, along with the continuous handrail, the GM RAILING® glass balustrade systems enable linear support without vertical posts.

The prefabricated glass modules are hooked into the substructure profiles, mounted on site, and screwed together using special adjustment pieces. This fastening method allows vertical alignment adjustments at handrail height. Because the glass is clamped into the support rail, no glass drilling is required. This reduces planning and installation effort as well as costs. The systematic approach provides advantages in all areas.

This modular principle allows the glass to be hooked into the substructure and fixed in place. The all-glass balustrade offers stepless adjustability.

The better railing

The quality requirements for a glass balustrade have even been declared the state of the art. The SIA 2057 ‘Glass Construction’ guideline establishes important quality criteria that GM RAILING® meets.

GM RAILING® sets new standards for glass balustrades by ensuring that:

  • Stress concentrations for the entire glass (including the clamping area) must be captured and verified using a calculation model.
  • The long-term chemical compatibility of all contact materials must be guaranteed to prevent constant moisture at laminated glass edges and to ensure the load-bearing capacity of sealing materials.
  • For fall-protection glazing that is not linearly supported, there is an increased risk of breakage due to local stress peaks.
  • Combinations of local fixings with a linear support are also to be considered as point supports.
